Since the fall of 2022, Energy Director has been part of the incubator at Science Park in Jönköping. Science Park supports entrepreneurs, business owners, and innovators throughout the Jönköping region by offering business development for both new and established companies, ranging from AI and sustainability training to contacts and networks. We had a brief chat with our business developer, Henning Lindberg, to talk about the incubator and what it does.

Henning explains that the seed for what is today the incubator was sown as early as 1998 and as a student incubator linked to the university. Today, the incubator is the part of Science Park that focuses on innovative and scalable companies with the potential to contribute to realizing Agenda 2030. The reason Science Park has chosen to focus on this type of company is because they see the opportunity to be part of the climate transition but also recognize that these companies have a harder time succeeding.

The companies can be relatively innovative with disruptive business ideas but also far from profitability and in need of extra support. The incubator can provide business development, make resources available, fill in missing competencies, and contribute its network of contacts. The incubator consists of between 10–15 companies; each year, about ten new companies join, and the ready-to-fly companies leave the incubator.

What type of companies is the incubator interested in?
Science Park wants them to be scalable and innovative, something that significantly differs from what is currently on the market. Additionally, Science Park wants the company to be able to address societal challenges credibly and have international potential. There should be a strong team within the company, someone or a few people who are willing and able to drive the company forward. Science Park considers Energy Director to fit well into this framework, with a very exciting business idea that is timely.

Energy Director can bring a very central component to the challenge that must be addressed here and now on the Swedish market and at the same time be a part of the long-term solution to replace coal power in Europe.

Science Park also sees Energy Director as a company that can grow, become profitable, and eventually stand on its own two feet.

We as a company are grateful to be a part of the incubator and see great value in both Science Park and the incubator’s support. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration in the future and hope that together we can create great things!
